Message From the Primate

PRIMATE’S MESSAGE TO PARISH PRIESTS, PARISH COUNCILS, SUPERINTENDENTS AND TEACHERS

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him” (Colossians 3:16‐17).

Dear all,

With this directive, we bring to your kind attention the mission of Sunday Schools in the life of the Western Diocese. The Sunday School aims to cultivate and illuminate the minds and souls of our children with the love of God and messages radiating from the Gospel of Christ, our Lord.

It is our noble duty to lead our children toward God and a Christian way of life. This mission needs to be taken very seriously and all of us collectively need to make sure that necessary guidance, attention, and care is given to the Sunday Schools and our children.

The reality is that the Sunday School mission needs to be strengthened and fortified. Therefore, we advise the pastors and all of you to make this a priority in the life of your activities. It is important that the Parish Council incorporates the Sunday School on regular PC agenda to evaluate the scope of the mission as well as the progress of the activities.

May the Good Lord bless and protect our Sunday Schools.

Prayerfully,
Abp. Hovnan Derderian
